MicroStrategy and Business Objects lead our digest of noteworthy product releases.

MicroStrategy 7i Universal Edition
MicroStrategy now offers a BI product line that's compiled to 32-bit and 64-bit modes from the same code base and can run on Microsoft Windows, IBM AIX, and Sun Solaris OSs. The new version extends high-performance computing benefits, including allowing many more concurrent users. The suite's BI functionality ranges from daily operational reports to ad hoc queries and in-depth OLAP analysis.

BusinessObjects 6.5
Business Objects
This release of the popular BI suite enhances Web query and analysis functionality (with the WebIntelligence 6.5 component), increases performance and scalability, and integrates with Crystal Version 10 products. The suite also includes data integration, reporting, analytic applications, and performance management capabilities. With this version, Business Objects has completed the front-end integration step in its Crystal Decisions integration roadmap.

Customer Behavior Intelligence
Models, measures, and improves self-service applications. Translates complex customer interactions across a variety of self-service applications (including interactive voice response systems, speech recognition, Web applications, customer relationship management, interactive kiosks, and mobile devices) into facts on which to base decisions that optimize single-channel and cross-channel business performance.

Attensity Relational Extraction Server 3.0
By understanding the structure of "unstructured" information (such as grammar and context), Attensity extracts information about entities, relationships, and actions from text and places it into a relational database for further analysis. Currently applied only to government for homeland security and automotive/durable goods manufacturers for risk management. For example, in the sentence, "The bolt on the underside of the transmission cracked," Attensity knows the bolt, rather than the transmission, is what cracked.

MindServer 3.0
MindServer automates categorization of very large, dynamic, unstructured information collections. It's notable for combining both speed and high accuracy, and for supporting more than 30 languages. The Retrieval module allows concept-based full-text search through keyword, natural language, phrase, or Boolean search terms and supports cross-language retrieval.

Qualify Marketing Score
Fair Isaac
Addresses insufficiency of traditional credit card marketing programs, enabling card issuers to reach good prospects who don't have a credit history — prospects who are low risk with a high probability of responding.
