Dell Software Businesses Sold To Private Equity Firms

Dell Software, which includes Quest, SonicWall, and Statistica, is being snapped up by private equity firms for a reported price of more than $2 billion. The selloff comes as Dell positions itself for an expected October closing for its acquisition of tech giant EMC.

Oracle Cloud Shift Continues As Q4, Full-Year Revenues Dip

Oracle revenues declined slightly year-over-year in the fourth fiscal quarter, but they still beat analyst estimates. Meanwhile, Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison told financial analysts the company is ready to meet customer demand in the Infrastructure-as-a-Service market with its second-generation data center technology.

A company called Sapho is looking to solve that with a "micro app" on-premises platform that delivers a unified interface of tasks to users via desktop or smartphone.

Thoma Bravo Buys BI Firm Qlik For $3 Billion

Qlik bowed to pressure to sell itself to private equity, announcing that it will be acquired by Thoma Bravo. Qlik was one of three companies ranked as Leaders in Gartner's most recent Magic Quadrant report for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms.
