Profile of Larry Ponemon

Chairman & Founder, Ponemon Institute

Larry Ponemon is chairman and founder of Ponemon Institute. Because of his expertise in information security and data privacy, he has served on the U.S. FTC's Advisory Committee for Online Access and Security and the DHS's Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee. Ponemon has held chaired faculty positions and written numerous articles and books. He served as founding member of the Certified Information Privacy Professional Advisory Board and is chair of the Visual Privacy Advisory Council. He has a Ph.D. from Union College and a Master's degree from Harvard University. He attended the doctoral program in System Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his Bachelor's degree with Highest Distinction from the University of Arizona. He is a CPA and a CIPP.
