Boeing Co. is developing plans for a more fuel-efficient jumbo jet, the 7E7 Dreamliner, its first new commercial airliner since the Boeing 777 launched in 2000. It hopes to substantially cut the cost of designing the plane by insisting that suppliers use software from Dassault Systèmes that lets designers around the world electronically collaborate to digitally design every manufacturing process and every component, from the wings to the seat-back trays.
