Boingo Adds Airports To Hotspot Network

New additions to the hotspot roster include 30 domestic airports and 6 in Europe.

Wi-Fi hotspot provider Boingo Wireless said Wednesday it has new roaming agreements that add wireless coverage in 36 airports to its network of Wi-Fi hotspots.

The company said that a roaming agreement with Opti-Fi adds 30 airports in North America, including Atlanta-Hartsfield, Chicago Midway, Miami International, Baltimore-Washington, Edmonton, Alberta and Albany, New York.

In addition, it now has agreements that will allow its customers to access hotspots in six additional European airports, including those in the Netherlands and throughout Scandinavia. The company said that, with the additions, its customers can now access public Wi-Fi networks in 169 airports worldwide.

"With an estimated 80 percent of today's Wi-Fi usage occurring at airports, it's easy to see that expanding our roaming services to these key business travel centers is important to our strategy," Colby Goff, Boingo's senior vice president of network strategy, said in a statement.
