BrassRing Adds Wireless Capabilities To HR Software

Many companies are still facing a critical shortage of talented employees despite the slowing economy. BrassRing Systems believes the latest version of Enterprise Systems, its Web-based human-resources software, can help solve that crunch.

Available immediately, Enterprise Systems 3.8 integrates online recruiting efforts, including job postings and candidate information capture, applicant management and tracking, and efficient data storage and retrieval. The software, which is hosted through an application service provider model, also provides integration with software from leading enterprise resource planning vendors. An enhancement, the scheduling and correspondence module, tracks a company's written, verbal, and electronic communication with candidates and generates letters and E-mail.

Another new feature, the Mobile Recruiter, makes it possible to capture candidate information through a Palm VII. It provides "a leading-edge competitive advantage for BrassRing," says Mike Boyd of analyst firm International Data Corp. Recruiting effectively means connecting with people, he says, not sitting in front of a computer performing administrative work. "But with wireless, you have the best of both worlds."

Richard Lee, staffing technology manager at Cigna Corp. in Hartford, Conn., believes the wireless component will be an asset to the insurance company's campus recruiting. With wireless, he says, candidate evaluations can be captured on site at job fairs. "I think it will decrease a lot of administrative work back in the office," he says. "It's a very optimistic piece of technology."
