Remote Access Options Multiply For Mac Users

Over the past few weeks, several vendors have released new or updated remote access tools of particular interest to Mac users.First up, Apple released a significant update to its Remote Desktop client and administrator products. Version 3.3.2 includes stability and performance updates, including more reliable setup and authentication tools, improved remote mouse cursor tracking, and more reliable drag-and-drop file copy.

Citrix Systems also made news by adding Mac support for its GoToMyPC remote access software. It's a move that will give Mac users one more option in an already-crowded remote access market, although iPhone connectivity still isn't on the menu for GoToMyPC users.

Don't Miss: NEW! Remote Access How-To Center

If you're looking for a remote access solution that includes the ability to control a Mac remotely from an iPhone, there are still several options available. Cisco's WebEx PCNow currently includes iPhone support, and LogMeIn Ignition offers both iPhone and iPod Touch connectivity -- the latter still a relatively novel feature among Mac-focused remote access tools. Jaadu, which is based on the popular VNC remote access protocol, is also proving to be increasingly popular with some iPhone users.
