Computer Associates and IBM yesterday unveiled a series ofproduct, pricing, and services initiatives designed to promote CA's enterprise management architecture on IBM's S/390 mainframe technology.
Unicenter TNG for OS/390 is compatible with other Unicenter TNG implementations, such as those for Unix and Windows NT. CA's Unicenter TNG will offer support for the following products on the OS/390 platform: OS/390 base system management; CICS; OS/390 Unix Services; CA-IDMS; CA-Datacom; DB2; MQSeries; Lotus Notes/Domino; SAP R3; PeopleSoft; Baan; Oracle; and Novell Netware for OS/390.
CA's Unicenter TNG for OS/390 helps better position the mainframe operating system in distributed, Web-enabled environments, CA executives say. "It's about bringing new workloads onto the S/390, not just preserving legacy applications," says CA chairman and CEO Charles Wang.
CA will also collaborate with IBM to support the S/390 Multiprise Server announced in September. Unicenter TNG on the Multiprise 3000 starts at $6,000 per month for leased licensing, ongoing maintenance, and technical support. CA's global professional services division is also working more closely with IBM Multiprise 3000 customers through the OS/390 Enterprise Growth Option, which includes software asset management service; OS/390 migration; and several maintenance and training services.
