CA To Acquire Consulting Firm

Computer Associates today said it is acquiring LDA Systems Inc., an information management and consulting services company.

LDA Systems Inc., which reported $25 million in revenue last year, claims expertise in a number of areas including Lotus Notes, data warehousing, Microsoft technologies, and E-commerce for midrange systems. The company, which has 300 employees, offers strategic consulting, project management, migration and conversion planning, and system design and construction.

CA will retain all of LDA's employees and continue to support the 20-year-old company's Cleveland headquarters and its other facilities in Columbus, Ohio, Cincinnati, and Atlanta.

CA is on an aggressive path to grow the potentially lucrative professional services business through acquisitions. The LDA purchase follows CA's August pickup of consulting services company Realogic Inc. (See Story). These buyouts come after CA's failed $9 billion-plus bid for professional services giant Computer Sciences Corp. earlier this year.

Following that protracted acquisition battle, CA set its sights on acquiring multiple smaller consulting firms with distinct specialties.
