$28 billion
The value of federal IT contracts in 1Q of FY 2006 was up more than 40% from a year earlier.
Data: Input
When it comes to keeping their cool, data centers have always lagged behind Moore's law and struggled to dissipate the heat generated by ever-faster microprocessors and the growing number of racks filled with servers. Hewlett-Packard last week unveiled its Modular Cooling System, which the company says can triple the cooling capacity of rack-mounted servers.

MCS is HP's first environmental-control equipment offering. It uses a supply of chilled water to distribute cool air across the front of a rack. HP also introduced a power-distribution management module to monitor power consumption. Somebody clearly sees a big market in cooling and power.
