Think about a backout strategy
Cloud providers make it easy to put data in, but getting it out is more complicated and costly. Enterprises evaluating cloud solutions should give some thought to a backout strategy when they evaluate cloud vendors. Having an idea of how difficult it would be to unwind an investment in cloud and move the data to another location, either a different cloud service provider or back to an on-premises solution should be part of the evaluation process. Even if there isn't an easy solution to this, it makes sense to be aware of just how hard it would be if you have to get out of the deal for any reason, including dissatisfaction, high cost, cloud provider going out of business or changing strategy, poor performance, etc.
