Re: VMware Advances Hybrid Cloud At VMworld
"The change in approach is meant to encourage IT to think about disaster recovery in the same vein as it already thinks about other public cloud services. "
Here, here. Everyone gives lip service to DR's importance, but comparatively few act on it. I've always thought cloud was a great avenue for this. No matter what processes you have in place, it can't account for every possible failure on your end. If the recovery comes from off site, then there's no problem. Many would be hesitant to give up this responsibility to a third party, but , where VMware is such a trusted brand (and entrenched in many IT shops), I think they're the right people to make this push. Combining this with a good on-premises plan means that if your cloud provider has an outage, you're also covered.
