Whoa, slowdown in China
A hidden issue with Alibaba or any provider located in China are the latencies that may be encountered on the Internet there. Throughput between a user and an application running in a public cloud may be impacted by "bandwidth bottlenecks in multiple locations," such as between a carrier's cross-provincial networks or at cross-carrier peering points; also at cross-border transit points or international points-of-presence of Chinese carriers. China's Great Firewall "adds sizable latency."
