This is the second round of $100 million
Mirantis was the recipient of a previous $100 million series B round lead by Insight Venture Partners in October 2014. Intel was a participant in that round as well. Charlie Babcock

Boris Renski & Mirantis staying power
One sign of Mirantis staying power: Boris Renski criticized the addition of VMware to the OpenStack board of directors, believing proprietary virtualization and cloud virtualization might be at odds. About a year later, VMware hired Renski and Mirantis to help with VMware customers' OpenStack implementations.

Open source
I've long believed OpenStack's open source ethos would work in the enterprise. It's good to see that Mirantis and other companies are devoted to this. Open source software still has huge potential implications in improving efficiency and security, especially in enterprise environments. This just takes resources to accomplish.
