Did VMware learn a lesson from Intel Clear Containers?
What VMware is proposing to do with a slender, microvisor wrapper for containers is very similiar to what Intel did when it created Clear Containers. A Clear Container is really a slender virtual machine, providing a protective wrapper around a container without adding the usual virtual machine slowdown in starting up. For more on Clear Containers, see http://www.informationweek.com/cloud/infrastructure-as-a-service/intel-gives-virtual-machines-container-like-speed/d/d-id/1320536.
