Security protections must be tied together, given smarts
Until we can build completely secure systems, something we haven't been able to do so far, we're going to need something like the defense in multiple tiers or defense in depth. One key element: knowing a lot about how a system is supposed to behave before you try to defend it. Then going on the offensive against the exceptions to that behavior, the ones that give cause for alarm -- that's a much more effective security stance.
