re: Zynga Regroups In Quest For Profit
I think it's a very smart idea for Zynga to disconnect itself from Facebook as much as possible. With all of the turbulence, uncertainty and chaos at Facebook and the animosity building between users and the ever "dynamic" platform, if they can move into an app-centric model, the better.
I also wonder if they might be interested in co-branding or possibly selling some of the games that they're decommissioning. I can see connections between things like FishVille and the NOAA, PetVille and the ASPCA or ForestVille and The Sierra Club. Something along the lines of buying an in-game item results in a donation to the sponsoring charity, etc. Give people what they want, do good and not waste all of the hours that the developers and the players have spent on the game.
