In a bid to seize on the growing interest in knowledge management, Compaq Computer today introduced a knowledge-management consulting service. The service will be delivered by a newly created knowledge-management organization within its Enterprise Solutions and Services Group.
The new services will help Compaq customers identify business problems and understand how knowledge management technology and practices could be used to address them. Compaq consultants will also recommend strategies for implementing knowledge-management systems based on customers' existing IT infrastructure. Compaq will offer follow-on services in knowledge-management architecture, messaging and collaboration, business intelligence and other areas.
The new services build on a series of knowledge-management announcements that Compaq has made this year. In May, the computer maker unveiled a broad knowledge-management initiative for Microsoft platforms revolving around Compaq's Work Expeditor collaboration and work-management software.
