Join us in Second Life Tuesday for GridTalk with Daniel Terdiman, author of the new book The Entrepreneur's Guide To Second Life, to learn about the best ways to do business in-world. Daniel will pass along the wisdom of the world's best fashion designers, retailers, and other in-world business people.

We've spent a lot of time in GridTalk talking about real-world businesses in Second Life -- Cisco, IBM, TV shows, and so forth -- but we haven't spent enough time talking about the people doing business in Second Life.

And, if Internet history is any example, both real-world businesses and native virtual worlds businesses will prove equally important and interesting. Real-world businesses use the Internet to re-enforce their existing business models. But Internet businesses invented new business models. When we think about online retail, we think of Amazon.com, not Wal-Mart. Likewise, for online video we think of YouTube, not NBC, and for auctions, we think of eBay, not Christie's.

As virtual worlds mature, it's a safe bet that some company that started in a virtual world will achieve billion-dollar status and change the way we do business and live our lives. Maybe one of the ones that Terdiman interviewed for his book.

Join us at the amphitheater on Dr. Dobb's Island (SLURL) Tuesday at 10 am Second Life Time -- that's 1 pm Eastern time -- to learn more.

We'll hold this discussion using the voice client, if technology cooperates.
