Fannie Mae's focus on the customer experience led them to a DevSecOps strategy that won 1st place in the InformationWeek IT Excellence Awards DevOps category.

Frederic Veron, SVP & Enterprise CIO for Fannie Mae and director of technology, Jason Meltzer dropped by the InformationWeek News Desk at Interop ITX to share how their technology teams came together to build an award-winning DevOps strategy. They chose to automate as much of the DevOps process as possible, including infrastructure as code and security testing and scanning, in order to receive feedback earlier and take advantage of all the agile method has to offer. Veron and Meltzer say they achieved success by making a decision to use their existing budget for more strategic initiatives such as the DevOps program, finding the right tools to implement DevOps, and by training their existing workforce to feel comfortable with the agile model. As a result of the DevOps strategy, Fannie Mae was able to double the number of releases they do in a year, reduce the length of each release to the strict minimum, and in some cases, can do releases on a monthly basis. To learn more about Fannie Mae's DevSecOps strategy, what they automated in the process, and how they were able to achieve earlier feedback, watch the video above.
