E-Commerce For Emerging Enterprises
IBM yesterday [9/21] unveiled a package of software, hardware, and Internet access and support services intended
to lower the barrier of entry into E-commerce for small and
medium-sized businesses.
IBM's WebConnections will provide companies with their own
private networks, complete with Internet access, E-mail, 24-
hour help-desk services, and built-in firewall security. The
package includes a thin server developed by Whistle
Communications, a company IBM acquired in June.
Joseph Villarosa, an independent industry analyst, says the
announcement underscores IBM's seriousness about the small
business market for E-commerce products and services.
Pricing starts at $99 per month, with a one time start-up
fee of $299.
