While every business faces the challenge of securing its networks and systems, managed service providers have to secure systems that serve multiple clients. And every failure can be costly, especially if the downtime or security breach violates service-level agreements. That provides an opportunity, according to eEye Digital Security, which on Monday introduced a revamped security suite aimed at service providers trying to secure multiple customers in real time.
Service providers can now license eEye's Blink and Retina Network Security Scanner products, which had been sold to businesses. Blink can sit on servers or clients and monitor network traffic to reduce the chance of an attack aimed at undisclosed vulnerabilities by preventing users from downloading malware and other hacker attacks. By reducing the amount of malicious software that enters a system, eEye says its software will help limit the need for emergency patching.
Retina helps customers identify known vulnerabilities and prioritizes threats for remediation. It's described as an easy-to-use network scanner that can aid in vulnerability assessment, remediation, patch-management automation, and workflow integration projects.
EEye says service providers asked it to modify its licensing approach so they could use the products in their data centers.
