EMC Logs Healthy 3Q Profits

Storage vendor EMC Corp. hasn't felt the heat from recent storage-platform product introductions by IBM and Hewlett-Packard, CEO Joe Tucci said last week. "These products are pretty much as we expected and offer logical extensions in terms of performance and capacity with respect to their product families," Tucci said. "They aren't game-changing products.

For the third quarter ended Sept. 30, EMC earnings rose 37% to $218 million on a 34% increase in sales to $2.03 billion.
