Funding Anti-Spam Efforts

E-mail infrastructure and services company IronPort Systems Inc. is closing $29 million in Series C funding, with $14 million coming from new strategic investors and the remaining $15 million from previous investors. The company's ambition is to have its messaging gateway appliances touching 10% to 20% of all E-mail on the Internet within a year. Customers include Cisco Systems, EDS, and Verizon, and among the new investors are Chevron Technology Ventures, General Motors Asset Management, and NTT Leasing.
