Global Logistics Teams With Consolidated Commerce

Global Logistics Technologies, Inc. (G-Log), a rising star in Internet-based logistics, has partnered with E-commerce procurement and supply-chain provider Consolidated Commerce Inc. to provide real-time logistics, supply-chain optimization, collaborative procurement, order management, and fulfillment services.

The alliance, which pairs G-Log's Global Command and Control Center application suite with Consolidated Commerce's eMarketplace Suite, targets trading-exchange customers and other businesses to provide combined procurement and logistics services.

Scott Torbik, a senior VP for Consolidated Commerce, says the combination of G-Log's logistics software with Consolidated Commerce's, which enables companies to consolidate purchases from many suppliers and vendors into full-truckload shipments, covers the life of entire transactions from purchase through delivery, allowing companies to have real-time visibility of shipments by land, sea, or air, and resolve shipping problems in real time. Jerry Overcash, senior VP of North American operations for G-Log, says the combination of procurement and logistics allows customers to manage complex transactions from a single interface. The G-Log software will be integrated with the eMarketplace Suite and the two companies will jointly offer their products to a combined customer base, he says.

The alliance is a good one for both companies, says Steve Banker, an analyst for Automation Research Corp. Businesses interested in business-to-business commerce increasingly are looking for a single point of purchase that enables them to also manage the logistics of sending or receiving products.
