In its campaign to organize the world's information, Google Inc. wants allies. The search company is starting a program to partner with developers, consultants, and software vendors whose technology can help expand Google's ability to search business information. Google has about 2,000 business customers who've bought Google's appliance for searching internal networks. "They want to get more content in there, more legacy data," says Dave Girouard, general manager of Google's enterprise business. Google hopes partners with expertise in those data sources will build such hooks.
