In addition to its Web content management software, Day provides digital asset management and social collaboration offerings. The deal, the companies said, will enable Adobe to beef up its efforts to help organizations create, manage, distribute, and monetize content while optimizing their customers' web experience.
"Adobe's acquisition of Day represents a key milestone in our efforts toward delivering (customer) experience management solutions to enterprises and governments worldwide," said Rob Tarkoff, senior VP and general manager of Adobe's digital enterprise solutions, in a statement.
Erik Hansen, Day Software's CEO, will join Adobe and report to Tarkoff.
Day Software, based in Switzerland and Boston, will operate as a product line within Adobe's digital enterprise solutions business unit.
The companies indicated that the ability of Day's customers to leverage additional interactive application and document capabilities from Adobe products will be an important new asset for the customers. The collaborative Adobe products cited included Adobe AIR, Adobe Flash, Adobe Live Cycle, and PDF.
"We believe this is a winning combination for both Adobe and Day customers," said Hansen, who added that the combination of Day's Web Content Management with Adobe's Flash and PDF products will be a boon for their mutual customers.
