Appian Launches Compliance Manager

Appian upgrades its compliance management software, which runs on top of the company's business process management technology.
Applian, a maker of business process management suites, has launched software for ensuring that processes are in compliance with regulations and internal procedures.

Compliance Manager 5, built on Appian's BPMS software, is designed to assist organizations in maintaining compliance with financial regulations, such as Sarbanes-Oxley; privacy regulations, such as HIPAA and the EU Data Directive; and best practices regulations, such as ISO and OSHA standards.

In managing companies' compliance efforts, the new software can import and document financial data into COSO-based, industry-specific control frameworks, notify people of actions required to achieve compliance; and assign control tests and evaluate results, officials with the Vienna, Va., company said.

The software can also raise, track, and remediate issues; and generate personalized dashboard-style reports. All functionality is done through a single, consolidated, Web-based environment. The product is also capable of managing efforts in organizations with offices in multiple countries.

The product offers continually updated reporting to deliver a more immediate status of an organization's compliance efforts. The software's Active Control Monitoring capabilities enable companies to create and monitor their internal controls in real-time in order to minimize the risk of non-compliance.

Applian's Compliance Manager 5 is available now. Pricing was not disclosed.

In May, the software maker released an upgrade of its BPM suite. Appian Enterprise 5.6. spreads process access and control through new Ajax-powered designer and rules interfaces, improved access to real-time metrics, and enhanced integration with Microsoft Office apps and RSS feeds.
