Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Chief Software Architect Ray Ozzie recently announced a set of broad-reaching changes to the company's technology and business practices, with the stated goal of increasing the openness of its products and driving greater interoperability, opportunity, and choice for developers. To this end, Microsoft is implementing four new interoperability principles and corresponding actions across its business products:
- Ensuring open connections
- Promoting data portability
- Enhancing support for industry standards
- Fostering more open engagement with customers and the industry, including open source communities.
