QlikTech touts its new application as providing data analysis and reporting without requiring the deployment of a traditional data warehouse and OLAP-based BI package. It connects with SAP’s R/3 software, the mySAP business suite, the enterprise software maker’s Business Information Warehouse and non-SAP sources like flat files and Excel.
The company plans to offer standardized templates for tasks such as sales performance analysis and accounts receivable analysis with the new software, called QlikView Connector for SAP R/3. QlikTech North America president and CEO Chris Berg said he expects the templates to be ready in the spring.
Though QlikTech technology is deployed with a number of large customers such as Campbell Soup and Pfizer, the company has historically targeted mostly mid-market buyers. In particular, QlikTech is used by several companies to analyze data from JD Edwards ERP systems. The new application is QlikTech’s first foray into the huge market of SAP users.
“We have between 5 and 10 pilots running, so it’s a proven product, but this is a new market for us,” Berg said.
The CEO put pricing for QlikView at roughly $30,000 for 20 Web-based users. Application templates run an additional $10,000 to $20,000. Annual 20% maintenance fees do not apply to the application template costs.
