SAS Jumps On Dual-Core Itanium 2 Bandwagon

SAS says its business intelligence platform has been optimized to support Intel Corp.'s new dual-core Itanium 2 processor.
SAS on Tuesday said its business intelligence platform has been optimized to support Intel Corp.'s new dual-core Itanium 2 processor.

The Cary, N.C., software maker said running its Enterprise Intelligence Platform on Itanium 2-based servers would significantly improve performance. Intel launched its new processor for high-end computing on Tuesday.

Customers who chose to run SAS software on the new dual-core chip can take full advantage of 64-bit business analytic applications, such as data mining, SAS officials said. In addition, the technology combo would help lower operational costs.
