The new products range from the $279 Phaser 3100MFP, which prints, copies, and scans, to the $1,999 Phaser 5550 laser printer, which prints at a rate of 50 pages per minute.
The strategy behind the products is to provide a broad price range for SMBs. "Xerox's portfolio of technology gives these businesses an array of choices to fit the way they work without breaking the bank," Russell Peacock, president of Xerox's Office Group, said in a statement.
At the same price as the 3100MFP, which prints at 21 pages per minute, Xerox is offering the Phaser 3250, which is smaller in size and includes automatic two-sided printing and the ability to print up to 30 ppm. The 3250 is built for individual users or small workgroups. The 3100MFP, on the other hand, is built for small offices and includes features like scan to e-mail, a full keyboard for fax directory, and optical character-recognition software that converts scanned documents into text-searchable files.
For SMBs looking for a networked system, Xerox is offering the Phaser 3635MFP multifunction printer for $1,799. The system prints 35 ppm and includes security options, such as image overwriting, encryption, and authentication tools.
Rounding out the new products is the Phaser 3600 laser printer, which starts at $549. The 3600 prints up to 40 ppm and includes a standard one-year warranty that can be extended up to three years, a feature not typically found in this class of product, according to Xerox.
With the exception of the 3100MFP, all the new printers are available through Xerox or resellers. The 3100MFP is scheduled for release in early June.
