GovOne Solutions To Develop E-Payment Options For Government Market

Imagine walking into a local Western Union office to pay a parking ticket, or having child-support payments automatically deducted from the father's account and credited to the mother's. Those are just a couple of applications being considered by govOne Solutions, a company launched this week to develop electronic payment options for the government market.

A spin-off of eOne Global LLC, the company's owners have a long pedigree in E-commerce. They include Western Union parent First Data, the Boston Consulting Group, General Atlantic Partners, and Goldman Sachs.

The group already handles $800 billion a year in electronic tax payments for 1.5 million businesses, as well as child-support payments for Rhode Island and parking tickets for New York City. Now, it's looking to expand "by selling the opportunity or buying the companies that are entrenched" in all areas where consumers and businesses touch the government, says eOne Global president and CEO Garen Staglin. Also in the works are solutions for business payments focused on enterprises and exchanges, Staglin says, and "opportunities in wireless wallets."
