re: Is Population Health Management Latest Health IT Fad?
Speaking from an IT perspective, we left the Industrial Revolution and entered the Technological Revolution in the late 80GÇÖs early 90GÇÖs. Like many, I have seen technology grow and impact every aspect of our lives, from e-commerce to Healthcare.
I agree that while we still need health and public safety involvement to keep up awareness, scientific data and statistical analysis should come from built-in analytical tools within the EHR system. I can see moving forward in the Healthcare Industry, PM/EHR/Analytics becoming a combined package that offers clinicians the interoperability needed to provide the statistical information to the scientific and larger healthcare community. It has to be an effort thatGÇÖs engaged by all to provide distinct patient data that will allow for increased preventive care.
This is definitely not a Fad, and will not go away, but will intensify and continue to grow as technology continues to evolve.
