re: Healthcare Experts Confront EHR-Related Medical Errors
I like how the article states that not only do the companies that provide the EHR systems have responsibilities, but also the end users when it comes to analyzing the shortcomings of EHR systems. As with anything new that gets implemented there is always going to be errors that may not have been apparent to the providers of the systems but only become apparent after they have been implemented. It is up to all parties involved to work together to create better, more efficient systems to minimize the chance of patient harm. Vendors also should also follow the AMIA advice of developing common style guides for certain EHR functions, and use that as a step towards achieving greater interoperability.
