Hocus-Pocus Locus Finds Reporting Focus

As the owner of Magictricks.com, the largest magic-supply retaileron the Internet, Jackie Monticup needs to know what her customers have up their sleeves. Monticup is using application service provider myComputer.com's SuperStats site-tracking and -reporting services, so she can do just that--in real time.

"I need to have a sales tool that speaks for me," says Monticup, noting the lack of customer interaction there is on the Internet. "And I need to know how customers are using the Web so I can improve it."

To track the path of customers on the site, she uses two new report services from SuperStats, Previous Page and Next Page, which statistically predict where visitors will head after logging on a site. The new services join a growing line that profile visitors, monitor site traffic, and measure marketing effectiveness.

"Previously, a Webmaster would download the log files, and crunch numbers for days with log analysis software to understand the customer," says Brett Error, myComputer.com's chief technology officer. Now, Error says, administrators log on to myComputer.com, punch in their passwords, and view how customers are using your site.

MyComputer.com remotely hosts Web-site management tools for small to midsize businesses. Advertising covers the cost of the reports. The service is available now.
