HP And Tandberg Team Up To Improve Telepresence Offerings

Users are able to collaborate by linking HP Halo Collaboration Studios to Tandberg's conference room and desktop-based systems.

HP and Tandberg have teamed up to boost their telepresence offerings by linking HP's Halo Collaboration Studies and HP's telepresence system to standards-based videoconferencing systems.

Announced this week, the system utilizes a Tandberg 6000 MXP codec, a Tandberg Video Switch, an HP Halo compositor, an HP ProLiant server, and HP-designed software. The firms noted that the telepresence phenomenon has been growing as enterprises and consumers seek to leverage existing videoconferencing assets and link them with personnel in remote locations.

HP currently has some 120 HP Halo Studios across the world in locations ranging from the U.S. and Canada to China and Sweden. The Halo Studios can be connected to standards-based videoconferencing systems located anywhere in the world, Tandberg and HP said.

Users are able to collaborate by linking HP Halo Collaboration Studios to Tandberg's conference room and desktop-based systems, thereby avoiding additional investments in their own IT installations.

"Telepresence is driving new levels of collaboration and real-time decision-making, which are key competitive advantages," said Ken Crangle, general manager, HP Halo Collaboration Studio unit, in a statement.
