IBM Firewall Strengthens E-mail And Network Security
IBM yesterday announced a new version of its IBM SecureWay Firewall that enhances E-mail protection and security for Internet multimedia applications.
IBM SecureWay Firewall version 4.1 is Windows NT and AIX- based. It offers a combination of advanced E-mail protection features that help block unwanted E-mail, such as unsolicited promotional messages. The new firewall also supports the SOCKS V5 standard, a method for securing high- throughput Internet multimedia applications, such as RealAudio and RealVideo, by requiring a user ID and password. Users running SecureWay Firewall version 4.1 on AIX-based IBM RS/6000 computers can take advantage of the systems support for symmetric multiprocessing for better performance.
Pricing for the new version of SecureWay Firewall starts at $2,079; it will be available Oct. 8.
