IBM Targets Small And Medium-Sized Businesses

In its latest effort to tailor computers for small andmedium-sized businesses, IBM yesterday introduced a newdesktop PC line with speech-recognition software and system-management tools.

The IBM PC 300GL Small Business Series includes ViaVoicespeech-recognition software for doctors, lawyers,architects, and other professionals who use dictationmachines. It also includes business productivity tools and atelephony feature that helps companies manage faxes. The300GL Series, priced starting at $1,149, comes with theIntel Celeron and Pentium II microprocessors and S3 Trio 3Dgraphics, and Ethernet or modem.

IBM's Global Financing division, meanwhile, introduced a newleasing program with Fidelity Leasing Inc. that lets small-business owners lease the 300GL Series starting at $50 amonth. The SuccessLease program is available through the IBMBusiness Partner -- Small Business Program.
