In Short: BlackBerry Service Pulls Up RIM's Revenue

Research In Motion Ltd., maker of the BlackBerry handheld E-mail device, narrowed its losses in its first quarter, ended May 31. RIM reported a net loss of $8.2 million, up from a $10.7 million loss in the same quarter last year. Revenue jumped 46% to $104.5 million, from $71.6 million last year. The company attracted 81,000 new subscribers to its BlackBerry E-mail service during the quarter, reaching 615,000 users.
