Informix To Debut Software Suite

Informix Corp. tomorrow will unveil a new business-intelligence software line called Informed Decisions. The suite marks the company's latest step in a yearlong effort to revamp its product line to provide database systems for E-commerce and decision support.

The suite includes the Informix Enterprise Decision Server 8.3 database server with new management features and the ability to run in clustered environments, and Red Brick Decision Server 6.0, designed to better support analytical applications. The suite "will empower our customers to develop targeted customer-relationship programs to win in today's Internet economy," says Charles Chang, VP and general manager of Informix's business intelligence group. Enterprise Decision Server 8.3 will be available later this month; Red Brick Decision Server 6.0 will ship next month. Pricing hasn't been set.

Informix is also putting together packages of analytical apps targeting vertical industries, including telecommunications and financial services, and management areas such as marketing automation. Informix has developed some of the applications itself; others are from third-party vendors such as Paragren Technologies Inc. and Cytek Software Corp. The analytical apps are available now, priced according to configuration.
