This confluence of requirements is why Intel has been so excited to serve as the technical advisor to the Open Data Center Alliance for the past 18 months. While we have decades of experience shepherding industry standard innovation within the computing industry, our role in the ODCA has provided a unique opportunity to work with end customers as they define and prioritize requirements for cloud and to then engage with providers and standards bodies to bridge to solution delivery. This work has yielded a wealth of new learning about how enterprise IT thinks about cloud computing and the change it brings not only to IT infrastructure but to business processes and organizational structure. As we've worked with the leaders of the ODCA to help document the requirements for cloud, we've also seen the industry's interest peak as vendors see a unique opportunity to accelerate technical capabilities to meet direct input from the large customer base represented within the organization.
This is why I'm extremely excited to be attending The Open Data Center Alliance's Forecast 2012 event on June 12, 2012 in NY. I attend a lot of cloud events, but the keynotes and lectures I seek out are the ones from end customers speaking directly about their experiences with the technology and how they've benefitted as an organization through their solution implementation. Forecast 2012 promises to be a full day of these types of discussions as enterprises and cloud service providers discuss the best practices associated with cloud, early experiences with solutions based on ODCA requirements, and hot topics for cloud innovation ranging from security to transparency to regulation. The industry will also be on hand to showcase the latest delivery of solutions meeting the requirements documented by ODCA. In my mind, here's what you can expect from your participation:
- Engage with ODCA leaders on their POC successes to determine how adoption of usage models within your organization will translate to ROI for your company.
- Learn about the ODCA's Performance Engine Assistant Tool so you can easily integrate ODCA requirements into your 2012 loud solution RFPs.
- Talk to vendors as they showcase their latest solutions meeting ODCA's requirements so you can begin discussions on your cloud solution selections.
- Network with executives and architects from some of the largest IT shops in the world to share best practices for cloud adoption
I hope you'll join me in NY for the exciting day. For more information, to view the agenda, or to register for the event visit: www.opendatacenteralliance.org. See you in New York!
