Interop Day Four: Keynotes, Startups & Sessions

Thursday at Interop Las Vegas brings keynotes, opportunities to hear from IT startups, and a full day of sessions on infrastructure, security, mobility, and more.

Welcome to day four of Interop Las Vegas! Our keynote presentations continue today, as do our conference sessions and day two of the Cloud Connect Summit. We also have several opportunities to dig into innovative IT startups.

Keynotes start at 8:30 am. Digitization and the Internet of Everything are disrupting business. Wim Elfrink, Executive Vice President, Industry Solutions and Chief Globalization Officer at Cisco, will share his best practices to embrace Fast IT and thrive in an era of change.

Finding and developing talented employees is a persistent challenge. Brian Shields, VP of IT for the Boston Red Sox, will discuss how organizations can find, train, cultivate and retain championship-caliber IT players.

SDN has the potential to transform the data center, but how do you get started? Our SDN First Steps panel brings experts from Dell, HP, and VMware who will identify the most likely use cases for initial SDN deployments, and discuss skill sets IT organizations need to prioritize as they initiate SDN projects.

Finally, we’ll get keynote attendees involved in our Audience Choice Award for Best of Interop. After a quick review of the Best of Interop winners, announced on Tuesday, attendees can vote via text for their pick for the Audience Choice winner.

The Expo floor opens at 10:30 am. Visit hundreds of tech vendors and see the latest IT products and services. Get an InteropNet NOC tour or stop in at the SDN Lab for whiteboard sessions and demos that show SDN concepts in action.

Startups are essential to the IT industry because they bring new ideas to market and take risks on new technologies. Interop has several opportunities to hear from IT startups today.

Startup Hot Seat, which takes place at 1:00 pm, puts four startups on stage. Each startup gets eight minutes to explain what their product or service does, how it’s different from products currently available, and why should an IT buyer take a chance on them.

We also have two sessions dedicated to startups, including David Vs. Goliath: New Startups Driving Innovation, which spotlights several companies driving new ideas in the physical infrastructure for switching/routing, overlay networking, network monitoring, and orchestration.

Packet Pushers podcast host Ethan Banks will interview young companies in security, software-defined WAN, and network operations in his session The Bleeding Edge.

You can check out our full program of sessions here.

Don’t forget to download the Interop Mobile App, which has the full conference agenda, an expo map, and an activity feed to help you connect with other attendees.

Have a great Thursday! If you have questions or comments, please contact me at [email protected]
