InteropNet Now Open for RFPs

Proposals are now being accepted for participation in InteropNet, the one-of-kind network that demonstrates cutting-edge technology at Interop.

Interop is now accepting proposals for participation in the 2014 InteropNet program. InteropNet provides Internet access for exhibitors and attendees at Interop. Assembled and run by staff and volunteers, InteropNet also serves as a platform to highlight new technology and demonstrate cross-vendor interoperability under live conditions. Attendees can tour the InteropNet NOC to see it action and take classes.

Interop is inviting vendors to join in building this one-of-kind network. In 2014, InteropNet will focus on software-defined networking concepts and deployments, IPv6, Wi-Fi, location services, BYOD and location-based services.

The network is put together and tested during the Hot Stage facility in Brisbane, Calif., and then shipped to Las Vegas and assembled for the conference.

Multiple providers will contribute a portion of the infrastructure, including both hardware and software. On the hardware side, InteropNet is soliciting switches and routers, firewalls and more. On the software side, it is soliciting network management and troubleshooting tools and other software products.

This year, a full production network will be built for the Las Vegas Interop conference, as well as a demonstration lab at Interop New York.

As Glenn Evans, the lead network architect for InteropNet notes, “Interop puts current technology and future concepts to the test through the InteropNet program. Attendees experience the latest innovations first-hand through this state-of-the-art, wide-scale deployment and interactive lab environment.”

“This network is a key feature of Interop and is built in collaboration with hand-selected, innovative vendors and volunteers, who come together to create a completely interoperable network using the industry’s most cutting edge technology.”

The RFP is available for download here. Vendors can submit proposals at [email protected] no later than 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday December 13th.
