ThousandEyes will monitor five essential aspects of the InteropNet to help ensure quality application performance.
Delivering network services at a conference is not a trivial task. Over 350 solution providers and 13,000 attendees at Interop Las Vegas will depend on a wide range of services, from Salesforce to Twitter, that are expected to always be available. InteropNet is used to access a whole host of applications, from customer registration to the conference mobile app and meeting planner.
To ensure that InteropNet provides the best application experience possible for attendees, ThousandEyes will be in the NOC providing troubleshooting support. We’ve set up agents at seven locations across the network, in various areas on the show floor as well in the Interop Las Vegas data center. These agents will collect the performance data necessary for the NOC to see issues in real time and to respond quickly.
We’ll monitor 5 key aspects of InteropNet:
1. Inside-Out: Registration is critical to get the show kicked off. We’ll be testing connectivity to the externally-hosted registration app throughout the conference.
2. Data Center Connectivity: We’ll use path visualization and route monitoring to troubleshoot traffic to the Interop Las Vegas data center, as well as circuits to the public Internet via San Francisco and Denver.
3. DNS: InteropNet uses both internal and cloud-based DNS. We will track both for availability and resolution time.
4. Outside-In: During the show, attendees and exhibitors use the Interop Website and mobile app to stay informed. We will use agents located at public POPs to understand how users on mobile networks and in nearby hotels are experiencing Interop applications located in the Las Vegas and Bay Area data centers.
5. Attendee Web Traffic: Whether for business or pleasure, attendees access all sorts of Web applications, including Salesforce, Google Apps, Office365, Twitter, Evernote, and WebEx. We will monitor performance of these from the show floor.
