Instrumented Agriculture

There are few areas of industry more data-dependent than agriculture. That's not new. What is new is the degree of direct instrumentation that's going on, where sensors of various sorts are installed in the soil, in chemical tanks, in aquaponics tanks, and more. That's not even the most interesting part. A growing number of service bureaus are taking the data from these sensors and performing cloud-based analysis for farmers and hobbyists. It's bringing Ph.D.-level analysis to farmers wherever they are, and could very well presage the next 'green revolution.'
