Research In Motion's BlackBerry is the No. 1 choice on corporations' smartphone-buying list, according to a new ChangeWave survey of more than 2,000 people. In fact, a full 82 percent of respondents whose companies plan to buy smartphones in the third quarter said they will buy BlackBerrys; 76 percent of those who already use smartphones say they have BlackBerrys. Apple's iPhone ranked second in planned smartphone purchases, with 13 percent.

Despite the favorable smartphone spending, overall IT spending looks relatively weak, according to ChangeWave. For Q3, 24 percent of respondents said their companies' IT spending will decrease. In addition, 28 percent said they expect budgets for the second half of 2008 to be lower than the first half.InformationWeek, Silicon Alley Insider
