Free IntranetLive.com Event To Tour Kellogg's Intranet
Building and managing a compelling intranet that meets the needs of your organization can be challenging, but a look at the best practices employed by other leading intranets is always good fodder for brainstorming and emulation.
Building and managing a compelling intranet that meets the needs of your organization can be challenging, but a look at the best practices employed by other leading intranets is always good fodder for brainstorming and emulation.A number of the recent, high-profile events offering a "peek behind the intranet curtain" at various Fortune 500 companies also have come with a hefty price tag. Trying to justify paying hundreds of dollars for a one-time guided tour of an intranet can be a tough sell in these trying economic times.
The good news is that at least one upcoming opportunity to look at a world-class intranet is free, thanks to Kellogg and the Intranet Benchmarking Forum. The Intranet Benchmarking Forum (IBF) has just launched IntranetsLive.com, a new site with plans to hold monthly events looking at intranets from companies worldwide. The first session, scheduled for Nov. 4, will feature the following:
• A live intranet tour by Kellogg, followed by a phone-in Q&A • Shiv Singh from Razorfish in New York • The Intranet Doctor: He's there to heal your intranet pain! • A day in the life of an intranet manager (Catherine Murphy, Capital One) • David Sacks from Yammer on how to get business value from Twitter
Attending future IntranetLive.com events will require a subscription, but it may be worth it -- they have intranet tours lined up for BBC, BP, Citi, GlaxoSmithKline, IBM, Oracle, Prudential, SAP, Sony, Toyota, and Wal-Mart, and also will feature intranet experts speaking at each event.
You can get a free pass for the first session, see what's coming up, and subscribe to the full series on the IntranetsLive.com site.
