At 12:01am EDT Saturday morning (or 9:01pm PDT Friday Night), Facebook will let you attach an identifiable username to your profile -- and those that you administer. Don't miss your chance! If you or your company has a profile on Facebook, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to give your profile a URL that actually makes sense instead of a randomly assigned number. (If you don't already have a Facebook profile, you won't be able to grab a username until June 28.)

Here's a Facebook image of the difference for a hypothetical user named Blaise Dipersia:

Getting a URL like that will make it MUCH easier for people to find you - or your company via search.

Just be sure to act fast, especially if you have a common name (or a common company name) as there's likely to be a frantic land-grab of Oklahomian proportions. And be careful, because you won't be able to change it afterwards. (You can't sell it either, so forget about building a Facebook-squatting business.)

At the same time, you might want to make sure that no one chooses a name associated with your company. Facebook has some hints for Intellectual Property Rights Holders

You can read Facebook's explanation, check out the FAQs, or just go here to make the change:
