Lenovo Introduces "Mobile Workstation"

Lenovo debuted the ThinkPad W700, a behemoth notebook to serve the needs of the "most data- and graphics-intensive users."The ThinkPad W700 has specs exceeding those of many desktops: with a 17-inch screen, it supports up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory, can carry dual internal hard drives, and comes with either the NVIDIA Quadro FX 2700M or 3700M OpenGL graphics processor with up to 1 GB of dedicated video memory. The hard drives can be configured as either RAID 0 or 1. It includes WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth, with WiMAX models available later this year, and can come with a Blu-ray DVD burner.

Notebook firsts for the W700 include a built-in digitizer and color calibration technology. The unit will be available next month, starting at $2,978.Business Wire via MarketWatch
